Here's an updated version with a drying step:

1. Prepare Cold Water: Fill a sink or basin with cold (not icy) water and add a small amount of wool-friendly detergent or mild shampoo if needed.
2. Separate and Submerge: Place your shawl in the water, keeping light and dark colors separate.
3. Gently Swirl and Soak: Gently swirl the shawl in the water for about 30 seconds, then let it soak for up to 30 minutes.
4. Rinse: Drain the water and rinse with cool, clean water until the soap is gone.
5. Lay Flat to Dry:Gently press out excess water without wringing, then lay the shawl flat on a towel to air dry.
